Workers Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) (1)

Most California employers are aware of the WCIRB, often called “the Rating Bureau” or simply “the Bureau.” The WCIRB issues workers compensation experience modifications and conducts periodic on-site inspections, following which it assigns workers compensation insurance classifications. Most employers probably think of the WCIRB as a state agency (some actually refer to it as “the state”), but this is incorrect. The WCIRB is a private association of which all California-licensed workers compensation insurance companies are members.
